Urns

For people and pets

Heartfelt Urns is brought to you by Jan Tomei Ceramics. I have been a ceramicist for over 25 years and truly love making pots. I graduated from Camberwell College, London with a BA (Hons) in Ceramics in 2000. Since then I was making sporadically until around 8 years ago when I fell in love with clay again.

I have made many vessels intending them to be urns but not necessarily to look like a typical urn. Also, over the past eighteen months I had been commissioned to make urns for both people and pets for friends and family so thought I would offer them to a wider audience.

I mainly work with white and black stoneware clay, anthrcite or either black or white porcelain. I make my own glazes and slips (coloured liquid clays) which in combination can offer wide variations of colour. This ability allows me to offer 'Custom Urns' to the size and colour specification of the client. Please also look at my                                    to see examples of urns I have made

Urns need to be of a specific size to accommodate the cremated ashes of the person or animal. Please see the

page where there is a guide to the size of the urn you may require. If you are in any doubt about your requirements or what I can make for you, please do not hesitate to Contact me. I will endevour to create the perfect resting place for your loved one..

Variations

Shapes

Basically, any shaped vessel can be an urn providing it has a fitted lid or stopper.

Colours

As I make my own glazes and slips, use a variety of coloured clays, most colourways can be acheived.

Please contact me is you have specific requirements

Size is important !

Please do check the 'What size urn?' page as the size of the urn needs to be able to hold the volume of cremated ashes.

Also, remember that if say, three people were sharing the ashes of a deceased loved  one, each urn would need to hold appx. 1ltr of ash.
