A Bit About Me
From Banking to Making
My career began in the fast paced world of International Banking in the heart of London where I spent many years navigating the complexities of finance. However, in 1995, after years of early morning meeting and late-night deadlines, I made the bold decision to leave the corporate world and pursue a career that truly resonated with me. I enrolled on a City & Guilds Pottery course to explore my new found passion for ceramics and shortly thereafter, I undertook a full-time, 3 year degree course in Ceramics at Camberwell Collegeof Arts, London graduating in 2000.
During my time at Camberwell, I was fortunate to work alongside talented mentors and artists who deepened my understanding of clay and pottery. I later had the privilelge of teaching evening and weekend pottery courses at Camberwell College where I shared my love for the craft with others and helped inspire new generations of ceramic artists.
While life events led me to take a hiatus from pottery, I have since returned to my workshop where I find true fulfilment and purpose. My journey from 'Banking to Pottery' was a transformative one, and I am now fully immersed in the art of ceramics, creating timeless pieces that reflect my passion and dedication to the craft.
I would like to thank the following people who were some of my tutors over the years. It was their enthusiasm and guidance which kept me going:
Nicolette (Nicki Savage - RIP) & Angela Watkins My tutors at Bromley Adult Education
Richard Phethean: I attended a few of his workshops when he was living in London once I had decided that throwing was my thing
Stephen (Steve) Parry:My throwing tutor at Camberwell College of Arts and who introduced my to 'the potters nod'. Any thrower will know about this!!
Thank you all
TRANSITION TO INCLUDE URNS
As someone who has loved and lost both family members (hence the break from pottery) and numerous pets over the years, made various shaped vessels and glazed them individually to hold their ashes, I am surprised I have never made urns to sell before. I have made urns for friends who have lost their parents and others who have lost their treasured pets, so I have decided to offer a selection of urns for sale.
I hope you enjoy looking at my work and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
